The 7th Arab Congress on Information Technology will take place from 19 to 21 May in Rabat, the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO) announced on Friday in a statement.
This congress, which will take place under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, is organised every two years, indicated the Director General of AIDMO, Adel Al-Saqr, recalling that the two previous editions were crowned with important recommendations regarding information technology in the Arab world.
This edition aims to present the best Arab and global practices, to address the application of systems and the transformation of industrial cities into smart cities, and to discover recent research in this field, notably the development of electronic services, Arab networks, and geographic information systems (GIS), specified Mr. Al Saqr, as quoted by the statement.
Promoting scientific research and education in Arab countries will certainly have a positive impact on the industrial information sector and the technology used, he added, emphasising the need to encourage Arab countries to establish competitive industries that use modern techniques.
The congress will also be an opportunity to exchange experiences regarding green computing and the knowledge economy, and to forge industrial partnerships and develop small and medium-sized enterprises, according to the statement.
Organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and the Microsoft company in Morocco, this meeting will see the participation of Arab ministers in charge of industry and ICT, Arab and international experts in the field, and specialised companies.
