He reunited with the audience at the Mohammed V Theatre: Vigon, Back to the roots

Who would have imagined that Abdelghafour Mohsine, alias Vigon, would find the R'bati public again after half a century of absence?

Indeed, it is in Rabat where he was born 72 years ago, that he revealed himself before leading a career as a singer and musician in France and everywhere in the world.

This time, Vigon returned to his roots: rock'n'roll and rhythm'n'blues, which carved out a nice place for themselves on the stage of the Mohammed V Theatre where he had not performed for decades.

"As if it were yesterday," noted Vigon, very moved, to evoke these reunions with the public of the capital and all the visitors to Rabat at the end of spring marked by shows in all directions within the framework of the "Mawazine Rhythms of the World" Festival.

The good old days are therefore back for the man who roamed the streets of the Medina and the Ocean district in the early 60s, and who has found a new youth. The one we knew him with the first orchestras of the capital, namely the "Toubkals", the "Rolls", and the "Goldens Hands". An era that Vigon remembers with nostalgia, he who has since travelled the world.

In 1978 and just after having performed his pilgrimage, he returned to settle in the South of Morocco and more precisely in Agadir.

The organisers of the "Mawazine" Festival thus showed insight by including Vigon's name in their repertoire for the 2012 edition. And it is not without bitterness that he admits never having been solicited by festival organisers in Morocco and in particular the city of Rabat.

He now has every reason to display his satisfaction. He who had the chance and the pleasure of rubbing shoulders with the greats of music: the Moody Blues, the Yardbirds, Ronny Bind, Antoine, the Rolling Stones, Johnny Hallyday, etc.

Undoubtedly, the disappearance of his daughter at an early age (25 years old) traumatised him a lot, but for the time of an evening, Vigon reconciled, in the most beautiful way, with the public of Rabat and undoubtedly also with himself!
