The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the city of Oujda experienced a 1% drop during the month of October compared to the previous month.
This variation is the result of a 1.9% drop in the price index of food products and a 0.3% rise in the consumer price index of non-food products, indicates a report from the Regional Directorate of the Oriental of the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
The price drops for food products observed between September and October 2024 mainly concern "Fruits" with 6.2%, "Fish and seafood" with 6.1%, "Meats" with 2.4%, "Vegetables" with 2.2%, "Milk, cheese and eggs" with 1.7% and "Mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices" with 1.1%, adds the same source, noting that prices, however, increased by 0.2% for "Oils and fats" and "Coffee, tea and cocoa", while for non-food products, the prices of "Fuels" dropped by 3.7%.
Furthermore, reports the MAP, compared to the same month of the previous year, the CPI recorded stagnation during the month of October, a consequence of the 0.5% drop in the food product price index and the 0.5% rise in the non-food product price index.
The drop in food product prices is due to the regression of "Food and beverage" prices by 0.7%. For non-food products, the variations range from a 4.3% drop for "Transport" to a 6.3% rise for "Housing, water, electricity and other fuels".
As for the CPI for the first ten months of the year 2024, it experienced a 0.5% rise compared to the same period of the previous year due to the 0.3% rise in the food product price index and the 0.8% rise in the non-food product price index.
