Financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, this project aims to instil in some 7,000 students, belonging to 12 establishments under the Ministry of National Education, the values encouraging non-violent practices in their behaviour towards each other, as well as between teaching staff and students, and to protect students who are victims of violence.
The association also seeks through this project, initiated in partnership with the Ministry of Solidarity, to establish the culture of rejecting violence in schools and to put an end to aggressive communication as well as all elements favouring violent behaviour within educational establishments.
This project also aims to allow the teaching staff to acquire methods of education on rejecting violence and conflict management.
The said project was started by the supervision and training of a group of trainers who are now tasked with initiating educational and administrative staff to ways of curbing this phenomenon by adopting listening and mediation as a means to resolve conflicts.
200 educational and administrative staff in 72 public and private educational establishments are concerned by the training.
The president of ACODEC, Miloud Razzouki, affirmed in a statement to the MAP that his association expects the number of beneficiaries of this programme to reach 10,000 students, stressing that each campaign within one of the establishments will be crowned by the creation of a listening and mediation unit and also by the drafting of a class charter by the students and teachers who commit to respecting its provisions.
In the next stage, ACODEC intends, thanks to the culture of non-violence programme, to raise awareness among young people in suburban neighbourhoods.
