The Oujda police prefecture services arrested 16,605 people suspected of being involved in various offences and crimes between 29 May and 19 December, 3,600 of whom were wanted.
During this period, police services also seized 185 kg of cannabis, 115 kg of kif, 34,930 packets of cigarettes, and 22,935 bottles of contraband alcohol, according to a report provided by the Oujda police.
The same services also seized 82 kg of tobacco and 4,450 cigarettes mixed with kif, 44.5 g of cocaine, 142 g of heroin, 5,560 psychotropic pills, 60 hookahs, 1,792 stolen or contraband mobile phones, 51 canisters of tear gas, 14 rifles, 1,450 cartridges of various types, and 12 kg of gunpowder, as well as 510 bladed weapons.
Among the confiscated contraband products are also nearly 144 tonnes of petrol, 252.5 kg of electrical and telephone cables, 53.5 tonnes of copper, in addition to significant quantities of food products.
Police interventions also resulted in the seizure of 251 vehicles modified for smuggling, 26 others that were stolen or abandoned, and 126 in an illegal situation, in addition to 378 motorcycles and 10 trucks.
Some 19,420 traffic code violations were recorded during the same period and 5,159,600 DH were collected, according to the same source, which reports the impounding of 2,495 cars and 2,380 motorcycles, the seizure of 709,000 DH, 317,600 Algerian dinars, and 67,820 euros, and the expulsion of 12,000 foreign persons from the national territory.
