The Ministry of Transport has granted provisional authorisations to maritime transport companies to ensure the smooth running of the 2012 Transit operation, following the cessation of activities by the two Moroccan shipping companies, COMARIT and COMANAV, for financial reasons, the Minister of Equipment and Transport, Aziz Rebbah, indicated on Thursday.
In this context, a provisional authorisation was granted to the Italian company Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV), which will connect Sète to Tangier and Nador, he added in a statement to the press shortly before the Government Council meeting.
A multi-sectoral commission is currently examining the file relating to the 2012 Transit operation, he specified, assuring that the competent authorities will ensure the smooth running of this operation and will intervene if necessary.
The ships of COMARIT and COMANAV, which provided the Tangier-Algeciras and Tangier-Sète (South of France) maritime links, have been subject to a protective seizure.
