Marrakech hosts the official opening of the “Night of the Galleries”

The Bahia Palace in Marrakech hosted, on Friday evening, the official opening of the 17th edition of the “Night of the Galleries,” an event aimed at facilitating communication and bringing together artists of different generations.

Initiated by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication – Department of Culture, this cultural event comes on the sidelines of the celebrations of "Marrakech, capital of culture in the Islamic world," organized in cooperation with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Thus, the opening ceremony was marked by a tribute paid to the pioneer of plastic art, Omar Bouragba, born in 1945 in the Ochre City, who began his artistic journey at the age of 13 before developing his artistic experience during the 1960s.

On this occasion, the painter expressed his deep gratitude for the tribute paid to him by the Regional Directorate of Culture of Marrakech-Safi, highlighting the importance of this recognition within the framework of the activities of the “Night of the Galleries.”

Subsequently, the evening was enriched by a guided tour through several exhibition halls within the Bahia Palace, showcasing a diversity of artistic works such as paintings and sculptures, as well as by the discovery of several private exhibitions and galleries participating in this event.

Under the rhythms of the “Dakka Marrakchia” and the poems of the masters of the Ochre City, the official kick-off of the Night of the Galleries was given, during an evening bringing together various cultural and artistic actors.

This national artistic event aims to promote the works and creations of visual artists, whether they are pioneers, confirmed talents, or promising young people, while celebrating the diversity and richness of creativity in all its expressions and artistic currents.

Thus, all the galleries in the Kingdom participating in this dynamic will remain open until midnight to allow a wide public to discover the news related to the visual arts.

This 17th edition, which brings together many cultural and artistic personalities in the field of visual arts, pays tribute to several emblematic figures of the Moroccan artistic movement across several cities of the Kingdom.
