Marrakech Open: Yassine Idmbarek wins the grand prize

Tennis player Yassine Idmbarek won the annual Royal Tennis Club of Marrakech (RTCM) "Grade 1" Tournament on Sunday in Marrakech. Idmbarek, playing for the Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc (USCM) club, beat Hassan Ndayshimi from the ITF (International Tennis Federation) Centre in the final by two sets to nil (6/2, 7/5). In the women's category, Lina Qostal (USCM) secured the title after a hard-fought victory over Zainab El Houari (Club Olympique de Casablanca-COC) by 2 sets to 1 (3/6, 6/3, 7/5), thus confirming a clear dominance of the USCM club in this tournament. In a statement to the MAP, the president of the RTCMA, Aziz Tifnouti, stressed that the level of this competition was very high, particularly with the participation of players from the Federal Tennis Centre and the ITF Centre, where the best players in Africa train. Organised under the aegis of the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation (FRMT), the RTCM Grade 1 saw the participation of 176 players in the "Men's Singles" category and 60 players in the "Women's Singles" category with a qualifying draw and a final draw. The final competition for players in the 11-14 age category ("Boys' Singles", "Girls' Singles", "Boys' Doubles" and "Girls' Doubles") of the RTCM Tournament will take place on January 11 and 12.
