Marrakech to laugh to tears

Marrakech to laugh to tears

Amateurs of humour and stand-up will meet again in the ochre city, from 5 to 9 June, on the occasion of its International Humour Festival, "Marrakech du Rire".

For its third edition, the rendezvous of laughter and humour will offer new shows "brimming with good humour" to make many families and curious onlookers laugh to tears, as this event has attracted since its creation.

Well-honed, the Festival team has concocted a programme that was, once again, to seduce amateurs of humour and stand-up. They will be able to meet at the various festival sites to appreciate renowned artists from several scenes who have in common a talent: that of sowing joy wherever they go and making the room where they perform twist with laughter.

Thus, between laughter and tears, the public will appreciate shows hosted by exceptional comedians, with a sense of repartee and boundless imagination.

The event will open on Wednesday 5 June at the Théâtre Royal at 9 pm with a show orchestrated by the very famous Hassan El Fad on the programme. Under his artistic direction, the Moroccan artist will pay tribute to Moroccan traditions through his show "La Halqa", alongside other French, Quebecois, Ivorian and many other comedians.

Earlier in the day, the public will find the Burattini family at the French Institute of Marrakech, with their puppets in "T’as de beaux yeux, tu sais carabosse". The illustrious family will be back on stage the next day to the joy of the little ones for whom this performance is intended.

With his sharp style and keen pen, Malik Bentalha will "se la racontera" on Thursday 6 June at the IF of Marrakech (8 pm) directed by Mohamed Hamidi.

An hour later, the public will be entitled to Eko by Abderramane Ouaabad with his new show entitled "Ch’tatata" at the Théâtre Royal. The comedian, who had already distinguished himself in "Eko l’hopital", will take the public on a journey from his childhood to his adolescence, passing through his schooling.

At the same time, the public will force Rachid Badouri to "arrêter ton cinéma" in a production by Guy Levesque. Before he triggers once again a "badourimania" at the mythical Badii Palace (9 pm).

After a very restless night, the spectators will be awakened the next day, Friday 7, by the "Cocorico" of Patrice Thibaud at the IF of Marrakech (8 pm) before finding the young Jousse Ksiyer at Dar Attakafa Daoudiate (8:30 pm). The winner of the first edition of the open stages of Marrakech du Rire (2011) will offer them his show entitled "Biodégradable" without visibly being so himself. While the Théâtre Royal will host the Jamel Comedy Club from 9 pm in a production by Franck Cimière. This collective show will be carried by Jean-François Cayrey, Malik Bentalha, Redouanne Harjane, D’jal, Noman Hosni, Waly Dia and Tony Saint Laurent.

Saturday 8, laughter aficionados will find Hassan El Fad at Dar Attakafa Daoudiate (8:30 pm) in his show "Aïn Sebaâ". The opportunity for the comedian to reveal to the public his childhood memories in this Casablanca neighbourhood with anecdotes and funny situations to make you bend with laughter.

Note that in addition to the comedy shows, the festival also plans, over three days, masterclasses for young artists. But also a circus show with the Eclats de Lune collective.

Let us point out that the "Marrakech du Rire" Festival, which is organised under the High Patronage of HM Mohammed VI, will end at the Badii Palace. With Jamel Debbouze, Franck Dubosc, Anthony Kavanagh, Jonathan Lambert, Audrey Lamy, Kamel le Magicien, among other comedians who no longer need an introduction, around him.
