The Marrakech Court of First Instance sentenced 10 Basist-leaning students on the night of Monday to Tuesday to prison terms ranging from 24 to 36 months, it was learned from a judicial source.
The accused, who are pursuing their studies at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, are prosecuted for insulting officials in the exercise of their duties, armed gathering, possession of bladed weapons, and degradation of public property, it is recalled. Thus, four students received a sentence of 36 months in prison each, four others were sentenced to 30 months in prison each, while the other two were sentenced to 24 months in prison each, it is specified from the same source. This case dates back to last March, when the Marrakech police services arrested the suspects after the discovery in a house in Hay Mohammadi in Daoudiate of several bladed weapons, sticks, as well as Molotov cocktails.
