The municipality of Lakhsas, or Lakhssas, is located in the south of Morocco, covering an area of 10 km2, on the main national road No. 1 that links Tiznit to Guelmim. Inhabited by a population (the Ait Lakhssas or Akhssasis) of approximately 47,336 individuals (2010), it is situated relative to the following borders: Tiznit to the north, Bouizakarne to the south, Ait Rkha to the east, and Ait Baamrane to the west, and is a mountainous region.
