A new public landfill for 30 million DH
The city of Laâyoune has just acquired a new public landfill for a cost estimated at more than 30 million DH, which will allow for modern, rational, and sustainable management of this vital sector at the city level. This new landfill, located 5 km south-west of the city, extends over more than 7.5 hectares and is expected to treat more than 150 tonnes of household and similar waste per day in Laâyoune, which has a population of approximately 200,000 inhabitants, and provides for the treatment of more than 725 thousand tonnes over 10 years. Equipped with advanced technology for the collection, transport, and treatment of waste, the new controlled public landfill of Laâyoune is intended to be a modern structure designed with a concern for preserving the ecosystem and environmental balances.
