Rotish and Mujer win the 14th edition

The Kenyan Luka Rotish and his compatriot Alice Mujer won the 14th edition of the Laâyoune International Half-Marathon on Sunday, organised under the High Patronage of H.M. King Mohammed VI and which coincides with the celebration of the 57th anniversary of Morocco's independence. Rotich completed the distance (21.097 km) in 1 hour 3 min 26 sec, ahead of the Moroccan Khalid Boumlili, a member of Chabab Sakia El Hamra, (1h 4 min 21 sec) and the Ethiopian Abraha Zebreba (1 h 4 min 21 sec). Among the ladies, Mujer arrived first with a time of 1h 12 min 22 sec, followed by the Moroccan Samira Riaf, a member of Raja Casablanca, (1h 14 min 59 sec) and the Ethiopian Salam Abir (1h 19 min 14 sec). This half-marathon, organised by the Chabab Sakia El Hamra Athletics Club under the aegis of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation and the Laâyoune-Boujdour-Sakia El Hamra Regional League, is an opportunity to evaluate the level of Moroccan athletes by allowing them to measure themselves against international marathon runners, notably Kenyans and Ethiopians, the organisers indicated in a statement to the press. Organised under the theme: "Sport at the service of advanced regionalisation", this edition, which took place in the presence of the Wali of the Laâyoune-Boujdour-Sakia El-Hamra region, Khalil Dakhil, was crowned by the awarding of prizes to the winners.
