After apprehending several luxury vehicles suspected of being stolen a few weeks ago, the security services and the Royal Gendarmerie of Laâyoune have seized twenty high-end vehicles circulating with falsified papers.

Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and other luxury vehicles are subject to particularly strict checks by police and gendarmerie elements. The information is mundane in itself, but where the shoe pinches is that most of these vehicles belong to influential personalities or members of their families.

Our sources indicate that the investigations conducted by the gendarmerie services could lead them to question officials from certain services in the region.

It should be noted that the forgers produced all the documentation relating to the customs clearance of the vehicles, allowing for the establishment of new documents.

The control operation, in which elements of the regional customs directorate are also participating, was triggered following a complaint filed by a resident of Agadir whose vehicle was seized following a routine check carried out by the relevant services, which had noted that his documents were falsified. The person in question filed a complaint against the man who had sold him his vehicle from Laâyoune.
