Statement from the Executive Committee of the Istiqlal Party: Suspension of Party members

In accordance with the provisions of Article 90 of the statutes of the Istiqlal Party, which authorise the Executive Committee to take provisional decisions against any member prosecuted before the National Arbitration and Discipline Commission while awaiting the latter's ruling on the offence submitted to it, and in accordance with Article 89 of the statutes, which sets out the offences requiring disciplinary decisions, the Executive Committee, meeting the day before yesterday, Monday, under the chairmanship of the Secretary General, decided unanimously to freeze the activity and suspend the following members: Meriem Kettani, Moutaraji Benali, Hassan Ghafloun, Abdelhamid El Himer, Mohamed Nhila, Baghou Ismaïl, and Driss Chentouf.

By virtue of this decision, these persons are prohibited from any activity within the party and their file is submitted to the assessment of the Arbitration and Discipline Commission because they have violated the party's statutes, committed acts detrimental to its interests, and disregarded its decisions, which is explicitly prohibited by Article 89 of the statutes.

Therefore, and pending the final decision of the Arbitration and Discipline Commission, the persons concerned no longer have any link with the Istiqlal Party.
