First Kasbah Festival

First Kasbah Festival

The first edition of the Kasbah (flute) Festival, organised by the Miracle Association for Music, opened on Wednesday in Jerada, with musical performances of the region's folk arts, punctuated by poetic readings in zajal. This event celebrates the art of the flute as a local musical heritage through a series of shows performed by folklore troupes with the aim of promoting this art to the younger generations.

The opening ceremony of the festival, which will continue until 29 July, was marked by a tribute paid to Mustapha Lakhrissi and Boumediène Lamtahari, respective figures of the art of the Kasbah and Bedouin qasida. The programme for this event, placed under the banner "All in the service of the homeland", also includes a symposium focused on the Bedouin heritage of the Jerada province.

The festival, which coincides with the celebration of the Throne Day, is organised with the support of the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Jerada communal council and the Agency for the Development and Promotion of the Oriental, in collaboration notably with the province and the provincial assembly of Jerada and the Council of the Oriental region.
