Shooting of the short film "The Blind Man and the Gypsy"

The Moroccan director Azelarab Alaoui recently shot in Imouzzer Kandar (Fez region), his latest short film entitled "The Blind Man and the Gypsy".

The short film, which "mixes poetry with song, dance and internal interpretation without any stereotypical exaggeration, retraces the story of an equivocal love between a dreamy blind man, haunted by memories and a beautiful gypsy," indicated to the MAP, the screenwriter, Aziz El Hakem.

The film, which brings together Moroccan and foreign filmmakers including Azelarab Kaghat, Hamid Najah, Fatemazahra Meski, as well as the Palestinian artist Shadya Hamed, took place in a climate of understanding and co-creativity in order to meet all the technical needs of this production, he explained.

Dedicated to the great Italian director, Federico Fellini, the film relates the life of a couple living in a daily rift which puts them between rupture and reconciliation, specified Aziz El Hakem.

The Moroccan director Azelarab Alaoui is known for his well-aestheticised cinematographic works such as "Izoran", "Satan's Powder", "Andromane" and "A Glass House".

"The Blind Man and the Gypsy" is a co-production between the film company "Medi Saïs Prod" and the Babylon Cult-Art Association.
