Strong growth in the tourism sector

The tourism sector in Ifrane recorded strong growth during the first quarter of 2012, with an increase of 116% in arrivals, 139% in overnight stays, and 5% in the occupancy rate compared to the same period of the previous year, according to statistics from the province.Arrivals and overnight stays made by non-resident tourists also saw a strong increase, of 46% and 42% respectively, note these statistics, which specify that the strongest increases were recorded by Spanish, French, and tourists from Arab countries.The good performance of the tourism sector in Ifrane was already manifested in 2011 by an increase of 100% in arrivals and 80% in overnight stays, compared with the 2010 financial year.This upward trend in tourism activity is accompanied by the realisation of major projects aimed at multiplying accommodation capacity.
