Smara Province: The education rehabilitation programme is going well

The governor of the Smara province chaired a meeting to study the education rehabilitation programme in the province.

The meeting, in which elected officials of the province, representatives of the various trade unions, representatives of civil society, as well as several teachers and school principals took part, made it possible to debate two essential files.

The logistics file concerns the infrastructure of school establishments, their fencing, the paving of playgrounds and walkways, equipment with cisterns, the rehabilitation of sports fields, the construction of classrooms, conference rooms, and toilets, as well as the construction and equipment of multi-purpose rooms in the various establishments. The estimated cost of this infrastructure is evaluated at 7 million dirhams.

The educational and pedagogical file contains three essential phases. It concerns the support for the execution of parallel activities. It relates to the discernment of gifted students and their encouragement to create, to the organisation of cultural and scientific outings and trips, as well as to the development of these activities within school spaces for the rooting of civic and religious values. This project is estimated at a total cost of 1.4 million dirhams.

The second phase aims to support quality initiatives in school establishments. This consists of supporting pedagogical support programmes and encouraging students to read, so as to exploit the multi-purpose rooms while encouraging orientation towards scientific branches.

The third phase, for its part, is of a social nature and makes it possible to fight against grade repetition and school dropout, on the one hand, and the management of school health and problems in the education sector. This component requires a budget of 2,050,000 DH.

This programme is financed via a partnership between the Smara province, the Guelmim Smara Regional Council, the Provincial Council, the Southern Agency, the General Directorate of National Promotion, and the Regional Academy for a total envelope of 13 million dirhams.
