Arrival of Maqdessi children in Morocco

About fifty Palestinian children arrived on Wednesday in Casablanca to participate in the 6th edition of the summer camps in Morocco, organised by the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency.
Arrival of Maqdessi children in Morocco

Placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the 2013 edition is named after the late HM Mohammed V, in realisation of the Kingdom's benevolence towards Palestinian children, in particular, and the populations of the Holy City, in general. Upon their arrival at the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, the Palestinian children, aged 11 to 14 (girls and boys), were welcomed notably by senior officials of the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency and the airport director. After a brief visit to Casablanca, the Palestinian children, all from the city of Al-Qods Acharif, are to travel to El Jadida where the guests of Morocco will spend a two-week holiday, filled with cultural, educational, artistic, and sporting activities. The organisation of this summer camp for the benefit of Maqdessi children is part of the unwavering and unconditional support provided by Morocco to the Palestinian cause, said Mohamed Beniyaha, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Agency, in a speech read on behalf of the Director General of this institution, Abdelkébir Alaoui M'daghri. This initiative also testifies to the close and historical relations uniting Morocco and Palestine, he added, recalling the actions and projects carried out by the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Agency for the benefit of the population of the Holy City. This summer camp will allow the Maqdessi children to learn about the ancestral traditions and cultural richness of Morocco and to see for themselves the unwavering support of Moroccans for the Palestinian cause. This stay should also allow them to discover the beauty of the natural sites of the city of El Jadida, as well as the historical, religious, cultural, and tourist heritage and the significant socio-economic achievements accomplished in this region. The celebration of "Al-Qods Day", scheduled for 20 June at Mohammed V Square in El Jadida, in commemoration of the visit of the late HM Mohammed V to the Holy City, will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the Maqdessi children's visit to Morocco. Created in 1998 at the initiative of the late HM Hassan II, President of the Al-Qods Committee, the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency is a non-profit institution that works to preserve the identity of the Holy City and its religious, cultural, and civilisational character, through the financing of various programmes and projects in collaboration with Arab-Muslim and international partners. It also sets itself the objectives of providing aid to the populations and institutions of Al-Qods Acharif and working to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque and rehabilitate the city's historical monuments.
