The situation and prospects for local development in the city of Boudnib were at the centre of a conference-debate organised recently at the initiative of the Oasis Association for Culture, Education and Social Development. The speakers at this meeting, initiated under the theme "What development prospects for Boudnib?", called for the valorisation of the city's tourist and cultural potential and the strengthening of support for associative action and its organisation within networks, emphasising the need to resolve the issue of collective lands and the opening of a real dialogue between officials and local actors for the realisation of real development. They also invited the elected councils to assume their full responsibility in this area, underlining the importance of coordination between the various local actors and stakeholders and parties concerned (authorities, elected councils, civil society) to meet the challenge of local development, in addition to the qualification of human resources and the implementation of specific programmes for the promotion of the conditions of women and children. In this context, they called for the concretisation of the project to build the socio-sports complex, the creation of vocational training centres, the rationalisation of the exploitation of the water table in the region, the implementation of investment projects for the benefit of local populations, and the valorisation of investment in the olive and palm sectors. The programme of this conference included debates on the challenges of the development of the rural commune of Oued Naâme and the problems of development on collective lands, as well as presentations dealing with themes relating to Boudnib and the challenges of development in rural areas, the prospects for the development of the Boudnib region in the agricultural field, proposals for the development of Boudnib, and the means, constraints, and prospects for development.
