Agadir: a rich program for the celebration of the new Amazigh year 2975
Scheduled from January 10 to 17, "this celebration is in line with the royal decision announced by HM King Mohammed VI, to establish January 14, corresponding to the first day of the Amazigh year, as an official holiday in Morocco", indicates a statement from the Agadir Commune, noting that "this royal gesture reinforces the recognition of Amazigh culture as an essential component of the Moroccan identity".

The program of festivities will cover 12 locations in the city, including public squares, gardens, and the promenade of Anza and Agadir, offering the inhabitants of the Souss capital and its visitors an exceptional opportunity to enjoy activities and events in a festive atmosphere.

The public will also have an appointment with exhibitions of craft cooperatives and local products, highlighting the creations of artisans, as well as a photographic exhibition illustrating the richness and diversity of the Amazigh cultural heritage.

On the menu of "Id Yennayer 2975", there are also conferences that will address themes such as "Amazighity in light of the 2024 census" and "Amazigh television and dramatic production", with the participation of Amazigh experts and researchers.

The citizens and visitors of Agadir will also be able to attend major artistic evenings organized on three main stages: Tikiouine, Al Amal Square, and the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella.

These shows will highlight the biggest stars of Amazigh song as well as performances of Raïs and Ahwach.

Furthermore, as part of the cinematographic program, the film "Mouga Yushkad" will be screened in Anza, Talborjt, and Bensergao.

To enrich the experience, tasting points for Amazigh dishes will be installed along the promenades of Anza and Agadir.

A "Tanggift" show will stage the traditions of the authentic Amazigh wedding, accompanied by artistic troupes representing the cultural diversity of the Souss Massa region.

Organized in partnership with the Souss Massa Regional Council, the Souss Massa Regional Tourism Council, and the Timitar Festival Association, the "Id Yennayer 2975" event aims to promote Amazigh culture as a fundamental element of the Moroccan identity and to consolidate the values of coexistence and cultural openness.

It also aspires to position Agadir as a tourist and cultural destination of excellence, on a national and international scale, in accordance with the commune's action plan which aims to make the city a cultural beacon and a universal capital of Amazigh culture, concludes the statement.
