Inauguration of the university meteorite museum

Inauguration of the university meteorite museum

The University Museum of Meteorites, affiliated with Ibn Zohr University, was inaugurated on Friday evening in Agadir, in the presence of numerous Moroccan and foreign scientific and intellectual personalities. This inauguration ceremony was notably marked by the presence of the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment, and Digital Economy, in charge of small businesses and the integration of the informal sector, Mamoun Bouhadhoud, the Wali of the Souss-Massa region and Governor of the Agadir-Ida Outanane prefecture, Zineb El Adaoui, the President of the Regional Council, Brahim Hafidi, the President of Ibn Zohr University, Omar Halli, elected officials, and several civil and military personalities.

The inauguration of this museum will inevitably mark the intellectual landscape in the capital of Souss and will strengthen its capital in terms of structures dedicated to culture, just as it will contribute to the diversification of the tourist offer of the Agadir destination, according to the initiators of this project. This museum will also contribute to valuing the field of meteorites, simplifying knowledge concerning them, and preserving this geological heritage. The management of this museum has been entrusted to the Ibn Zohr Astronomy Club, chaired by Professor Abderahmane Ibhi, specialised in meteorology.
