“The major construction site of the Agadir stadium is in the final phase. Only a few finishing touches are missing, just the contours of the stadiums remain to be able to inaugurate it soon”, well-informed sources from the National Company for the Realisation and Management of Stadiums (Sonarges) indicated to ALM. Thus, the stadium, which was launched a few years ago, is 98% complete and is therefore preparing to open its doors soon.

Indeed, the fruit of an international architectural competition, the original concept of the Agadir stadium is based on the use of embankments extracted from the land to support the structures of the stands, the roofing of the stands, and other components of the stadium. The project, with a capacity of 45,000 seated places, was the subject of in-depth studies for adaptation to the highly seismic site. Resolving the problems of stability and public safety for this extraordinary structure was the occasion to carry out exceptional seismic, geotechnical, and structural investigations. The many assets of the Agadir stadium site, namely its strategic position on the outskirts of the city centre, its proximity to major road, airport, and maritime axes, will allow it to contribute to the promotion of sporting activities on a national, regional, and intercontinental scale. The Agadir stadium is designed to be a multi-sports stadium that is fully in compliance with FIFA and IAAF specifications. The stadium is equipped with state-of-the-art technical, security, and comfort equipment, which makes it an intelligent building (dual electrical power supply system, fire safety system, advertising LEDs, stand furniture, video surveillance system, intrusion detection, ticketing access control, kitchen equipment, sound systems, and centralised technical management).
