The year 2013 finally seems to be bringing its share of concrete results for certain projects blocked in the city of Agadir. At least, this is the case for the construction project of the University Hospital Centre (CHU). Indeed, following a meeting held recently at the Wilaya of Agadir, in the presence of the Wali of the Souss-Massa-Drâa region and other officials close to the file, the project in question can finally be located on land situated near the Agadir stadium. "After a frank and fruitful discussion, a unanimous agreement was reached on the choice of a site. It is a plot of land with a total area of approximately 39 hectares which will initially house the CHU and the Faculty of Medicine, and the rest of the land is preserved for other health profession teaching structures (Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dentistry, laboratories, etc.)," it was announced by the Wilaya. It should be noted that the said land has frontages on the axes of the expressway, the extension of the East-West link, and the new access road to the Agadir stadium. Thus, the project to create the CHU in the city will finally see the light of day after years of negotiations and blockages related to the land that must be dedicated to the creation of this project. With the land and financing secured, the first ground-breaking should follow to give birth to this long-awaited health hub in the region.

That said, after a meeting where several presentations were made by the president of the communal council, the regional director of health, and the director of the urban agency to shed light on the proposals for the implementation of this project, a final decision was made. Note that the said project will initially include a CHU and a Faculty of Medicine. The project to create a CHU in Agadir, let us recall, is one of the projects forming part of the regional development strategy. Indeed, the development of the health sector has been set as a priority in this framework. Note that the indicators and infrastructure remained lagging behind compared to the importance and potential of the region.
