After Marrakech at the beginning of 2011 and Tanger, 4 months later, the Grand Stadium of Agadir will complete the range of medium-sized but international-stature stadiums that Morocco had planned to build as early as 2003. According to well-informed sources, the stadium will be operational during the month of July and will host a test match, while waiting to host official competitions. It has a capacity of 45,840 seats, including 10,000 covered. With this new stadium, Morocco will now have 7 football infrastructures meeting FIFA standards, not counting the Grand Stadium of Casablanca, work on which should start by the autumn of 2012. An architectural firm has already been selected following a call for proposals.
