The Solidarity and Cooperation Space of the Oriental Region and its partners organised several awareness-raising workshops in educational institutions, within the framework of the project: "For the sustainable management of water resources and the preservation of the biodiversity of the Moulouya estuary and its coastline", with financial support from the French Embassy in Morocco and in cooperation with the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Oujda-Angad prefecture.
In a press release received by Hespress FR, the Space explains that these education and awareness-raising meetings were organised in December 2024 in five educational institutions, namely Al-Ferdaous School, Mohamed Adli School, Rabiaa Al-Adaouia School, Wad Al-Makhzen School, and Idris Ben Zekri School.
The same source explains that the awareness-raising theme focused on the current water situation in Morocco and the importance of rationalising water use. The communication workshops were led by Prof. Sbai Abdelkader, Mohamed Baraho, Milouda Bouyagh, and the artist Nabil Lakbir.
This initiative was an opportunity for students, under the supervision of administrative and educational staff, to express their awareness of the need to save water and rationalise its consumption as a vital and strategic resource, through various means such as plays and songs and their interactions with the facilitators, the same source specifies.
During these workshops, brochures were distributed to students aimed at raising their awareness and adopting optimal behaviour to rationalise water use and save it, especially in this period when Morocco is experiencing water scarcity and a lack of rainfall for more than six years and perhaps for the coming years, the Solidarity Space highlights, noting that at the end of the workshops, a snack was organised and words of thanks were exchanged between the organisers and the administrative and educational staff.
