The Association of Presidents of the Prefecture Council and Provincial Assemblies of the Oriental region has just been born in Oujda. The new entity has the ambition to establish a framework for cooperation, solidarity and partnership between the prefecture council and the provincial assemblies of the region.
The Association of Presidents of the Prefecture Council and Provincial Assemblies of the Oriental region was born recently in Oujda, in parallel with the election of its leading bureau. According to its statutes, this association aims in particular to establish a framework for cooperation, solidarity and partnership between the prefecture council and the provincial assemblies of the Oriental region covering different areas and to strengthen their presence in the management of local and regional affairs. It also aims to support local administration by granting the presidents of the councils the power to use the legal tools and mechanisms allowing them to intervene, programme and execute development projects, to encourage local communes to establish partnerships and sign agreements, to organise training sessions and conferences to make known the legislative texts and administrative and financial procedures for managing local affairs, and to promote the exchange of experiences in this field.
The Association also aims to organise regional and national days, exhibitions and festivals to promote the economic, social, natural and tourist potential, as well as investment opportunities in the various provinces and prefectures of the Oriental region. Furthermore, the Association wishes to contribute to the preparation of various research and studies in cooperation with university institutions and specialised institutes in order to institute collective work and improve its mechanisms. Thus, the president of the Oujda-Angad prefecture council, Hicham Seghir, was elected president of the Association, the president of the Nador provincial assembly, Said Rahmouni, vice-president, the president of the Guercif provincial assembly, Ahmed Azouzi, second vice-president, while the president of the Figuig provincial assembly, Hamid Chaya, was elected third vice-president.
