Morocco-Eurasian Economic Union: prospects for a potential high-potential FTA
Nearly ten years ago, Morocco and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) increased contacts to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Since the official visit of HM King Mohammed VI to Russia in March 2016, exploratory missions on both sides became increasingly numerous, breathing new momentum into trade and investment, until 2018 when this dynamic slowed down somewhat. Today, as the EAEU and the Kingdom experience growing development in their respective regions, the idea of a rapprochement is resurfacing, following statements by Igor Petrichenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Union, mentioning the possibility of free trade agreements with new countries, including Morocco.
Baraka’s balanced vision for the Family Code
During a meeting in Larache, the Secretary General of the Istiqlal party, Nizar Baraka, deemed it necessary that the reform of the Family Code cannot be done to the detriment of religious texts which constitute an immutable reference. This affirmation, in line with the directives of HM King Mohammed VI, reminds us that any change must be carried out with respect for the delicate balances that structure Moroccan society. In this sense, the Istiqlal Party stands as a force for proposals, but also as a bulwark against ideological excesses, whether conservative or progressive. The party calls for an enlightened reform, guided by dialogue, reason, and the general interest.

Laâyoune desalination plant: nearly 470 million DH to build the direct seawater intake and the pre-treatment platform
The National Office for Electricity and Water is initiating the second phase of the Laâyoune seawater desalination plant. The platform, currently supplied from existing coastal boreholes, will be connected to the sea via direct water intake installations and pre-treatment equipment. A budget of more than 469 million DH is reserved for this project, which will meet the rising demand for drinking water in Laâyoune and its surrounding areas.
Violence in the school environment: authorities mobilize
School violence is causing growing concern within educational establishments and their surroundings. Faced with this challenge, government authorities are mobilizing to ensure the safety and well-being of students and educational staff. National savings expected to reach 28.3% of GDP in 2025
“Taking into account net external income which is expected to represent 7.4% of GDP in 2024 and 7.1% in 2025, national savings should reach 28.3% of GDP in 2025,” indicates the HCP, which has just published its 2025 Forecast Economic Budget. The domestic savings rate is expected to show an increase, rising from 20.7% of GDP in 2024 to 21.1% in 2025. This progression is the result of a projected 5.9% increase in nominal GDP and an expected 5.4% increase in final national consumption in value in 2025, explains the HCP.
Sefrou: Medical campaign for 70 students with disabilities
A multidisciplinary medical caravan was organized for 70 students with disabilities enrolled in educational establishments in the commune of El Menzel, in the province of Sefrou. This campaign, organized by the provincial directorate of National Education of Sefrou, under the supervision of the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Fez-Meknes, was supervised by a specialized medical and paramedical team. This campaign is part of the implementation of the national inclusive education program and the 2022-2026 roadmap for education and training, explained Hicham Halim, head of the inclusive education service at the AREF of Fez-Meknes.

The strike law: resistance in the second Chamber
The draft law on strikes, already approved by the House of Representatives, is meeting strong resistance in the House of Councillors. Some trade unions reject the project despite government assurances, while others prefer escalation by organizing a protest demonstration. Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, affirmed that the government was ready to make fundamental changes to this draft law in order to satisfy the workers' demands. In a statement to the press following working sessions with representatives of certain trade unions and the CGEM, Sekkouri indicated that the government was convinced that the adoption of this “important” text would make it possible to accompany social and economic developments and ensure the exercise of the right to strike without infringing on the freedom to work.

The CEMAC parliament reiterates its constant support for the Moroccan Sahara
The President of the Parliament of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), Evariste Ngamana, reiterated, on Monday in Rabat, the constant support of this group for the Moroccan Sahara. This position was expressed by Ngamana during his talks with the President of the House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, indicates a statement from the Chamber, affirming that the President of the CEMAC Parliament praised, on this occasion, the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI “to achieve African unity, solidarity, and integration”.

Acquisition of real estate in Spain: Moroccans top the list
According to figures from the Spanish Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Moroccans residing in Spain topped the list of foreign buyers of real estate in 2024, with 30.7% of real estate transactions compared to 2019. Spanish sales, meanwhile, increased by 17.7% compared to 2019.
