The members of the provincial council of Khémisset held their ordinary session for the month of June last Monday at the provincial headquarters, during which the items on the agenda were adopted unanimously. The elected officials highlighted the performance of the provincial council, mentioning what they described as “continuous efforts” towards the realization of socio-economic projects and the strengthening of basic infrastructure at the provincial level. A dynamic which, according to the President of the Council, Mohammed Lahmouch, reflects the desire of the various partners to guarantee the development of the province and the strengthening of local capacity as a major axis in the various local programmes.
The Provincial Council, he said, has decided to take out a loan of 60 million DH from the Communal Equipment Fund to carry out several socio-economic projects. For his part, Mehdi Daki, head of the social action division, presented a report on the stabilization of street vendors, 2,199 of them, in the cities of Khémisset and Tifelt. A partnership agreement was signed to this effect between the provincial council, the commune of Khémisset, and the commune of Tifelt. In order to bring this project to a successful conclusion, the provincial council will inject 1 million DH, the National Initiative for Human Development will contribute 9 million DH, while the commune of Khémisset will mobilize 9.8 million DH and the commune of Tifelt an amount of 1.5 million DH. Finally, let us note that a debate was opened at the end of this meeting during which the members of the Council did not fail to raise various questions concerning projects that have been programmed or have already been launched, calling for increased support to achieve sustainable and coherent development.
