The number of food poisoning cases affecting guests at a wedding in the rural commune of Moulay Abdellah Amghar, near El Jadida, has risen to 152 cases so far, with no deaths recorded.
Jalal Said El Sebai, the provincial health delegate in El Jadida, explained in a telephone call to Hespress that the food poisoning cases suffered by a number of citizens at a wedding in the rural commune of Moulay Abdellah have reached 152 cases so far, pending the results of laboratory tests to determine the true cause of the incident.
The representative of the health sector in the capital of Doukkala added that "the Mohammed V Provincial Hospital has continued to receive patients since last night until now, where everyone has benefited from medical examinations and necessary urgent treatments, with a prescription for medication according to each case," confirming that "everyone received their right to see a doctor and left the hospital after their health condition stabilised," describing their situation as "stable and normal."
It should be noted that the local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, the National Security, the Civil Protection, and the Health Delegation in the El Jadida province mobilised their personnel from Sunday night until now, after dozens of citizens were subjected to mass food poisoning.
Hespress sources explained that a number of guests at a social event (a wedding) in Douar Djaidat, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Moulay Abdellah Amghar commune near El Jadida, suffered from symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, which suggests they suffered from food poisoning immediately after eating a chicken dinner.
The patients of various ages and genders were quickly transported to the Mohammed V Provincial Hospital in the capital of Doukkala to receive the necessary first aid, with no deaths recorded.
The Public Prosecution at the El Jadida judicial district ordered the opening of a preliminary investigation, as is customary in such cases, pending the results of laboratory tests conducted on samples of the dinner components and the vomit of a number of patients, for the benefit of the field and scientific research opened into the incident.
