In the heart of the cold Azilal province, where temperatures drop to bone-chilling levels, unemployed individuals stand chained, a symbol of defiance and protest against unemployment, demanding a job opportunity that guarantees them a dignified life.
In front of the provincial headquarters, the unemployed lined up, hands chained, in harsh temperatures that dropped below zero.
“We need work, we need a dignified life”, with these words, Abdelghafour Ait Addi, one of the members of the coordination committee, expressed his frustration at the lack of response to their demands.
Ait Addi explained, in a statement to the electronic newspaper Hespress, that the open sit-in, which began last Wednesday, has not yielded any signs of serious dialogue or concrete solutions.
The protesters pointed to the absence of real economic opportunities in the province, where no factories or plants are opening their doors to them.
For them, “the solution lies in opening the door to competitive exams for the children of the province, and finding development mechanisms that contribute to creating sustainable job opportunities”, in their identical expressions.
These protesters believe that “the suffering of the unemployed in Azilal goes beyond unemployment; they also face a harsh environmental challenge: the bitter cold and climatic conditions increase the burden of life”.
“We are not just numbers of unemployed people, we are the children of this province and it is our right to live in it with dignity”, says Abdelghafour Ait Addi.
It is worth noting that last Friday night witnessed the intervention of public forces in an attempt to end the sit-in, and a video clip was circulated on social media platforms documenting this.
