Five people have died and about thirty are injured, eight of them seriously. This is the toll from a coach rollover on Tuesday, 6 May 2014, near Essaouira. According to local authorities, the accident occurred at a dangerous bend in the rural commune of Lamkhalif (nearly 70 km north of Essaouira). The coach driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Among the seriously injured, three were evacuated to the Marrakech University Hospital. Four mobile medical units and a medical team were dispatched from Marrakech to reinforce the team at the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah provincial hospital in Essaouira. The coach, which was travelling between Salé and Guelmim, was carrying about forty passengers.
