A series of suicides in the province of Essaouira continues to strike hard at men and women alike, the illiterate and the educated, civil servants and the unemployed, the single and the married, and the elderly and children!

On the second day of Eid, a child native to Idaw Azza in the Haha region took his own life by hanging early in the morning!

The child, who was studying in a Quranic school, was discovered hanging from the roof of his room on Thursday, 27 October 2012. He was transported to the morgue of the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Provincial Hospital in Essaouira, while an investigation was opened by the gendarmerie services to determine the circumstances of his act.

Furthermore, four passengers lost their lives in two fatal accidents that occurred on the eve of Eid in the commune of Tahelwant.

The first occurred when a transit car carrying several passengers overturned at the exit of a bend. A man breathed his last at the scene of the accident, while several injured people were transported to the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah Provincial Hospital to receive the necessary care.

The second accident, which was more serious, occurred due to a head-on collision between two cars. Three passengers, including two brothers, died following serious injuries. The third victim died on the day of Eid after being admitted to the Ibnou Tofail Hospital in Marrakech.

One of the victims was planning to celebrate his wedding at the end of the current month.
