Insecurity is in full swing

Insecurity is in full swing

The inhabitants of the Douars Sraghna, Laawamra, Sbaitate, Algharbiya and Laghnadra, falling under the El Haouzia commune, Azemmour circle, have manifested their anger against the multiple attacks and decided, as a first step, to take their case to court, before taking their destiny into their own hands to put an end to the insecurity that prevails in their Douars.

The protesters have, in fact, organised a long protest march towards the El Jadida Court of Appeal to make their grievances heard directly and, consequently, to hold the decision-makers accountable.

"Recourse to this protest movement was imposed on us by force of circumstances. The number and scale of the attacks that have been committed in recent years by various gangs that have specialised, some in the theft of livestock, others in that of movable property, others in attacks with bladed weapons, and, for lack of repression, they are running the show in this region which, until recently, lived in peace," one of the complainants tells us.

"The number is only multiplying. Armed with swords and clubs, the attackers have deprived us of moving freely between our Douars, our fields and our Souks to the point of asking ourselves if we are really in a country where the law and freedom are respected," adds another complainant.

Worse, the attackers also resort to poisoning guard dogs to be able to enter houses and farms and appropriate the loot, without the owners realising it.

Arriving in El Jadida, three representatives of the protesters were received by the public prosecutor with the intention of inquiring about their situation. The latter promised them to contact the police and the gendarmerie to put an end to this situation of insecurity. It should be noted that the inhabitants were able to immobilise two alleged thieves in the act and presented them to the gendarmes.

Let us recall that last year, students and professors of the Higher Institute of Tourism and Hospitality of Al Haouzia were frequently attacked by young people in hoods.
