Maritime navigation: Bad weather causes several accidents

Maritime navigation: Bad weather causes several accidents

Bad weather and the lack of information in the marine environment in the Southern provinces are at the origin of two accidents that occurred on the high seas during the last week, causing the death of two fishermen.

The first accident occurred off the fishing village of Tarouma, located 45 km south of Laâyoune, and led to the death of two fishermen. There were three of them who faced the raging waves of the Atlantic that day on board a boat intended for artisanal fishing. The third only survived by luck, by resisting the waves before reaching the shore.

The second accident happened when the trawlers Lamsid and Amghatt 2 collided off Boujdour. The trawler Lamsid, which sank, had 25 crew members that the second trawler was able to recover safe and sound.
