Successful interventions in the Lhmam locality

Interventions to combat locusts carried out in the locality of Lhmam (Khénifra province) were successful and targeted, it was learned on Monday from the provincial delegation of agriculture.

Invasions of "Moroccan locusts" were reported at the end of last April over an area of 1,000 hectares in different zones of the Lhmam region, it was specified, explaining that a massive treatment was necessary to put a stop to this scourge.

And to add that it is not a question of a possible invasion of large-scale locust swarms, coming notably from West Africa.

Furthermore, swarms grouping tens of millions of locusts can travel up to 150 km per day by taking advantage of air currents. A female can lay 300 eggs during her life cycle, and a winged one can consume the equivalent of its weight in food.
