The city of Casablanca is currently living, and until July 18, to the rhythm of the festivities of "Ramadaniat Al-Baïda", an event organised annually by the Sidi Belyout Arrondissement. The inhabitants of the metropolis will therefore benefit, as usual, from a whole series of shows and cultural, sporting, and social activities, in various spaces such as the Sidi Belyout Cultural Complex and the Higher School of Fine Arts. The festivities of this ninth edition, which advocates diversity, began last Friday at the School of Fine Arts with an inaugural evening dedicated to Andalusian music and malhoun. A fashion show of traditional clothes, made by Aicha Amine, Leila Serhane, and Soufiane Bouzekri Idrissi, was also organised during this evening. Cultural activity was not left out, since an Arabic Calligraphy Salon was organised on the second day, with the support of the Bassamat Fine Arts Association and some personalities including Abdessalam Kabaj, Rachid Zizi, Nadia Essqali, and Abdessalam Rihani. Two sporting activities were also on the programme for this second day: a weightlifting competition, with the participation of the "Manbt Al Ahrar" Association, and another of taekwondo, under the aegis of the Central League, to the great delight of martial arts enthusiasts. This is to say that this festival is open to many fields of art, culture, and sport. The organisers also initiated a Quran recitation competition and a conference on the theme "Our memories of Ramadan", in collaboration with the Regional Council of Ulema. On the theatre side, many talented actors will tread the boards, to the great pleasure of the public. We will thus have an appointment, on Monday, July 14, at the Sidi Belyout Complex, with the "Masrah Arklan" troupe which will present a play for children whose theme deals with road safety. In parallel, an artistic evening, entitled "Alayla Rouhiya", will be hosted by Naima Tahiri, Issaoua, and the Casablanca group of Andalusian music. The organisers have also planned, for Tuesday, July 15, a poetry evening, which will be hosted by Aliya Idrissi, and will see the participation of poets Fatiha Morchid and Morad Qadiri. As for cinema, the evening of Thursday, July 17, will be exclusively reserved for the seventh art, with the screening of the feature film "The Barber of Derb El Foqara", by Mohammed Errekab, followed by a debate around the film. And this with the participation of the National League of Film Clubs in Morocco. Furthermore, a meeting will be organised, on Friday, July 18, around "The experience of a talent", with the painter Abdelhay Elmalakh. On the other hand, the Cultural Complex will house several workshops, in different fields, such as plastic art or sound and lighting techniques in theatre, with the support of the regional directorate of the Ministry of Culture. According to an official of the culture commission within the Sidi Belyout Arrondissement Council, this new edition of Ramadaniat Al-Baïda will be as successful as the previous ones thanks to the efforts made by the organising committee. "I think that over the editions, this event has achieved its objective, namely to create a dynamic and cultural and artistic animation in Sidi Belyout and at the level of the whole city of Casablanca," he affirmed.
