Casablanca tramway traffic was interrupted on Wednesday between the Hay Mohammedi and Nations Unies stations following a suicide attempt on the tramway platform, according to Casa Tram.

''For security reasons and following a suicide attempt on the Tramway platform, traffic was interrupted between the Hay Mohammedi and Nations Unies stations and is heavily disrupted on the rest of the line'', the same source specified.

The incident, which occurred yesterday at 17:26, caused disruptions until the situation was restored, which was expected the same day, around 9 p.m.

The driver of the tram performed emergency braking to avoid hitting the man, and this braking caused a failure in the tram's braking system, immobilising it on the track and preventing other trams from accessing the section, the same source explained.

No details are currently available on the man's age or the causes that led him to this suicide attempt.
