Horrible hotel, cold water for shower, dusty, outdated, staff are extremely rude. Went to another hotel after one day.

It's cheaper if you book online than going at the reception. Rooms are outdated. Wi fi not available in rooms, great location but next to a mosque that wakes you up at 6-7 am

Criminals. They take every chance they see to squeeze out an extra dinar. For example: I enquired about the street parking price, to which they lied, and then escorted me to their friends' high-priced parking spot. The fees for the "tourist tax" were already paid in my online booking but that did not stop them charging it again -- TWICE.

I stayed two times in this hotel just a short walk to the Jemaa el Fnaa in Marrakech, and this year there is no longer a buffet breakfast. And the malfunctioning coffee maker that last year produced lukewarm coffee is no longer being used, and a very slow waiter brought me a single hard boiled egg on a large plate filled with far too many different breads, even though I clearly ordered an omelette. The waiter even insisted that my boiled egg was an omlette, which is ridiculous. But I ate it as I was hungry. I ate two small croissants with a little butter and one confiture, drank the orange juice and ate the vanilla yoghurt that was also provided. Finally the barely warm omelette arrived, but I had to ask for a fork as well as salt. The omelette looked more like a fried egg and this year no cheese was available. The morning coffee for all diners is served in a heavy thermos-carafe along with another overly-large thermos of warm milk, passed from table to table by the waiter who is inattentive. You may even observe a cleaning woman mopping the floor during breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is unsightly and unappealing to diners and should never be done. The coffee offered at breakfast is warm and definitely not hot. No fruit or cheese is offered, and there are tiny portions of butter and one or two flavors of confiture, so this breakfast was a disappointment. Expect Orange Nestor, not freshly-squeezed orange juice. You may ask for a plain omlette in place of the boiled egg but it may arrive at your table cold. (On our last day's breakfast the waiter informed me that no omelette or hard-boiled egg was available because the kitchen had run out and someone didn't buy enough. "Demain," he assured me. But alas, we were leaving by Supratours bus for Agadir in two hours and wouldn't be there again on this major trip to the South of Morocco.) My room overlooking the Koutoubia mosque is air-conditioned adequately and had a small flat--screen television above a mini-refrigerator that barely kept anything cool, let alone cold. You can hear noises through the ceiling of my bedroom of the upper dining room when chairs are moved and occasionally live music. There is no bathtub but there is a large mosaic tiled shower and sporadic periods of hot water but more likely lukewarm mater. No soap or shampoo is provided. The Hotel Islane does have two strong and reliable WiFi connections, including one on the upper terrace overlooking the Koutoubia mosque, where the breakfasts, lunches and dinners are all served. Last night's pasta was a disappointingly small portion with canned mushrooms in a cream sauce, but my brother's pizza was good at 65 dirhams. We had to ask for some ice cubes because the Coca-Colas were not cold enough and I asked for some citron which was sliced and served quickly. The view of the Koutoubia mosque lit up at night is memorable. Overall, for the location and price the Islane Hotel is very good for walking to the Djmaa el Fna, but don't expect luxury or very attentive service upstairs at the terrace restaurant during lunch, dinner or at breakfast (served from 7:00 to 10:30 AM). Finally, there is no elevator, so if you have difficulty climbing stairs or are with a disabled person find another place. Nevertheless, I would still stay here again because of the location and reasonable price, and it is clean with daily maid service and air-conditioned which is essential in Marrakech. Bed mattresses and pillows are on the hard side but bearable. There are no chairs in the reception lobby and reception area and the halls are dark until you push a wall swich, and there is no real shop, just an unattended and locked room that has only red pottery. A saving point is that its front rooms have a great view of the famous Koutoubia Mosque.
